Steve Crout stays in touch and here is his latest find:
Here we are in July in Afghanistan where the temperatures run in the 30’s most days and the dust is always in your nose and ears. Next to no humidity means your washing dries in about 30 minutes. Summer fruits and vegetables include apricots, apples, mangoes, dates, plums, cherries, grapes and watermelons.  Lots of choices just make sure you wash them off carefully! Although there are regular skirmishes outside of Kabul we’ve had it easy the last few months. Roadblocks everywhere along with sniffer dogs seem to have taken out the careless insurgents. The government has announced what we’ve known for a while now that Afghanistan is sitting on trillions of dollars of mineral deposits and all we need to figure out is how to mine them and stay alive! Things are looking up!
Here’s a little brain teaser for the club members!
The photos marked “mysterybike1” and “mysterybike2”   are real bikes that were in production at one time.
The first person to email me at stevecrout@hotmail.com with one right answer wins a six-pack of the frosty beverage of his choice.
The first person to email me with both right answers (I don’t need the year or engine size just the make) wins a $25 gift certificate to the new Keg or a 12 pack of your favourite brew.
The other photos are a few of the bikes that are fairly common in India these days. All sorts of older Brit bikes are surfacing with a few real interesting ones to boot including the AJS Twin that was sent out as a photo of a photo. The 1924 Triumph was interesting and the old AJS twin was too but the prices were out of sight!
See you in October!
