Saving a gasket

if your cheap or don't have time to wait and want to save a gasket, here's your best chance. Say ya need to do some clutch work to go on a Sunday ride and you don't have a gasket. Crack all the screws, remove all but 4 corner  screws, loosen these 1 or 2 turns. Beat gently all the way around the cover wit a rubber mallet, pretend  you're playing the Xylophone. About ten times around. Remove remaining screws and gently pull cover out a couple mils. Look for any sections stuck, usually the gasket will stick to the cover but small parts might stick to the motor. Gently slice these away from the case with a new razor blade, now you have a 1 piece gasket. Clean liberally with brakekleen, apply a thin film of liquid sealer,( I like Permatex the right stuff- this will stop oil leaks on Harleys- bit pricey but worth it) torque and ride.
