Stolen Sportster Stolen Again
« on: June 16, 2022, 12:50:17 PM »
I parked across the street from my office (right in front of the courthouse) yesterday.  The ignition key is stuck, but I thought, I'd only be a little while and I could see my bike from my office window.   I got side tracked, and was parked there most of the day.

Around 4:00 I heard a bike start up.  Not alarming, lots of bikes park on this street.  However, the sound quickly changed to the familiar "vrrroooom" of my Stolen Sportster with a handful of throttle.  I looked out my window to just catch it heading towards 1st Avenue.

I immediately called 911.  Within less than 10 minutes I got a call that the cops had found my bike already; parked at the Via Rail station on 1st Avenue.

I figured I knew why the thief  did not get far.  I was correct.

I'm actually surprised the thief got four blocks before running out of gas.

I talked lots with the cops on the scene.   There was a Paladin Security Guard standing right in front of the Via Rail building when the thief parked the bike, got off and started running into the CN yard.  The cops used the sniffer dog, a drone and ultimately a helicopter to try and find the thief, but after about 30 minutes they gave up, and I got to ride away on the now Twice Stolen Sportster.

Peace & Peace Officers, Dennis

Sounds to me like those horseshoes you have are a good fit. Lucky you!

Maybe the guy was in a hurry to get to the Bottle Depot before they closed?
Why be normal?

Dennis I love the fact you got your bike back so quickly. The petcock being off sounds similar to a standard car not being stolen because the younger generation can’t drive anything but a automatic.

I'd say the thief was an idiot--not a great thing given his profession.
