Not too many members have belt driven motorcycles. Those that do may report a "chirping" sound, especially when changing gears or in wet weather.
The Stolen Sportster started doing this really badly at the start of the riding season. A little time on the WWW determined that this is a very common problem, and many belt drive bike owners believe the sounds are a warning of imminent transmission or clutch failure or something serious. It's not. The sides of the drive belt get dirty and when they rub against the pulley they make the "chirping" sound.
After reading pros and cons of various fixes, I opted for a wipe down and application of a thin coat of dielectric grease on the sides of the belt. The noise instantly was gone.
Last weekend I noticed the "chirping" starting again (after a whole season of riding). Knowing the cause and the solution, I dug right in.

"A little dab 'll do ya" . A thin coating on both sides. The green tape just marks where I started and finished.
