Not a good ride

Today I went for a ride. Hit a patch of gravel and slid into the ditch. Broke my leg bad and will need surgery. Really bummed out now because I wont be able to do the wayne ride

Doctor says I broke both tibia and fibia in my left leg. Will require surgery slated for later this evening. Havent seen the bike yet but a buddy retrieved it from the ditch for me and says it doesnt look too bad. That gravel is deadly shit!

update: they are wheeling me onto surgery soon to put a steel rod in my fibia. That sounds horrible to me but it could be worse i suppose.

just came out of surgery. was supposed to be a 40 mon surgery, ended up taking 2 hours. Hurts like hell but they are prettty are generous with the morphine so pain should go down soon.

Sorry to hear about your mishap, glad you?re on the way to healing. Broken leg in the summer sucks but I think winter would be worse. Now it?s just all about the time it takes to heal, take care.

Nasty piece of luck, Kris. Gravel on the road (corners) is a constant threat; one that I have encountered only a few times resulting in a little side-slip (which induces some involuntary Kegel exercise) but no disastrous results - yet.

my wife says I should sue YRB because they are supposed to be maintaining the roads out there and they dont. Theres a pile of gravel at the end of our street that has been there for three years now.

Listen to the docs, listen more to the nurses.  Don't push the rehab too fast, it'll stick you in the hospital (been there, done that).  Heal well.

Thanks Hans, I will definitely be following the doctors orders to the letter as the use of my leg is very important to me. They just released me from the hospital and I am on my way home to sit in my recliner and smoke pot until I can take my next dose of morphine.

Hi Kris good luck with the recovery, remember the physio and rehab is really the most important part to complete, take it from one who knows about rehab. Listen to your body and the physios.
