Quesnel Hixon Road
« on: June 03, 2019, 05:01:50 PM »
At 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning (after playing a show), I started working on my xt350.  I needed to change an engine gasket due to a bad leak.  My only vehicle to get to my wife's mine right now is this bike, and I had to fix it.  By 3:00 a.m. it was all done.  No test ride though.

Skipped the Hooterville Hoot to visit my wife on Sunday, and rode home the long way: via the Quesnel Hixon Road.  This is the old wooden bridge across the Cottonwood River.

The xt350 ran flawless.  I also learned I have over 145km range of mixed 4X4, gravel road and highway.  I still have not switched to reserve.

These dual purpose bikes are a lot of fun, and well worth it if you are thinking of adding a bike to your collection.

If interested in the ride, you cut west at Plett Road which is just south of Hixon circa 8 kms and immediately turn south on the Hixon Quesnel Road.  If adventurous, just before the Cottonwood River Bridge, there is a trail which cuts east back to the highway.  I've driven it in both my Jeep and the xt350 before. Then once at the highway backtrack to the road along Ahbou Creek and end up back on the Quesnel Hixon Road.  Re-ride the few kms from Ahbou Creek to where the aforementioned trail starts, and continue down to Quesnel.

Peace & no pavement, Dennis
