Picked up this guy's T500 yesterday. $500 (Unfortunately there are not many 'steals' with old 2-strokes). So far this is intended as a parts bike. But we'll see.
I'm pretty sure that the engine has never been out of the frame based on the state of the mounting bolts. An idiot tried to remove the cylinder barrel with a prybar (there's busted bottom cooling fin at the front of the cylinder block). Other signs of bogery include gear oil in the clutchcase/gearcase and a missing or loose crankshaft primary drive gear. The pots are siezed. All the handlebar levers are immobile as is the throttle. The seat uphostery is amaturish and the front of the seat pan has been cut off. There's lichen growing on the gauges. Exhausts, fenders, wheels, and hubs are in good shape as is the gas tank.
If I decide to revive it, into say a cafe racer, I'll have to probably make friends with Gary.
