valve shims

Hello there.

I'm wondering if anyone here in PG  has any 13mm shims that look like a watch battery for my 82 kz750 spectre. I am in need of 1 x 2.40 , 3 x 2.35 , 1 x 2.30 and 1 x  2.25 shims (kind that fit under the bucket)

I am willing to trade for the shims I no longer need here , or we can talk cost per shim etc. I would like to get my bike running this weekend so any help is appreciated.

Thanks Wayne...appreciate the info. Sorry I woke you up :-)

I called lordco as well..they dont have any. Like I mentioned before I'd like to find some local for two reasons..i believe local is always better. And 2 ...I want to have it running this weekend.

And another question of they day ... know any good mechanics that can replace my bearing head? I think this top engine rebuild was enough of a learning experience for me and I just want to ride...right now I can't so it makes me want to even more.

Okay ... well good news and bad news.. .good news is .. bike is back together and it acutally runs !!! Got some shims from Troy/Andrew at FPS, thanks Wayne ! I have to find out where the idle screw is on my carb (yeah Ill look in the manual and adjust, hopefully that will make it sweet)

I think I have a whee exhause leak tho... cause i can hear it coming out the engine (front exhaust) and it smokes like a banshee (wait they scream?)

I put in new rings so im not sure what it is... altho the exhaust is something that is a piece im sure... i looked at it, and it seems someone tried to weld/braize and didnt know what they were doing.... hopefully I can find out where its leaking and then once the head bearing is done .. I can actually ride .. wont that be nice... gawd I miss riding.

Smoking is not good...did you hone the cylinders for your new rings?  I rebuilt the top end if my bike 2 winters ago and it turned out well.  It was dead and I figured I had nothing to lose by trying.....honed it, new rings and a lapping job on the valves....oh yeah and mine has 5 valves per cyl with shims...lots of fun, glad I gave myself a lot of time to do that job...I am no pro.
Your bike looks nice, when you buy a dead bike it is uncertain how long it may take to make it right.  It was so nice yesterday, I know what it is like to have a dead bike and nice weather.....

yeah pretty soon I'm going to say who wants to trade? I don't have a shop ... and I'm no mechanic by any means. I am trying tho so that should count for something lol.... and yeah not riding sucks... so bad ...I should a never sold my twin, nothing I can do about that now.

I'll be meeting some of you tonight at the meeting ... can't wait. people willing to help is awesome ..plus meeting  new people with same live for riding will be awesome As well

Well I reseated the exhaust and seem to have fixed that problem.....

I was then setting my idle .... it was running good... then shabang no more run .... maybe I turned the idle screw too much, now I can't get it to start even with the choke uggg.....i should a just left it be...
