Title: 1979 Ironhead
Post by: Dennis on March 07, 2024, 10:19:45 AM
I thought I might start a thread on my 1979 Ironhead Sportster Engine.   Have done lots already, but as we (Keith and I) are in the assembly phase it may be a good photo op.

As valves can descend into the head after they've been lapped, the stem can protrude higher.   This can affect the spring pressure.  The first step is to measure how far out the stems come up into the rocker boxes.

After all were measured, calculated shims to get within the ranges.

Shimmed and put back together.

Peace & Grease, Dennis
