.For paint is a real pain. The tape will stubbornly resist the curves and trimming to fit spokes is a pain. The answer is simple all purpose grease. Carefully smear a thin film on the parts you don't want to get paint on. Paint and wipe off the grease and over spray. Or say you want paint a rim without removing the tire. Put grease on the tire, paint and wash away. Chrome and polished parts to be put away for long periods of time can also be coated to prevent corrosion-grease doesn't "breathe.' No air, no rust. One word of warning- a little goes a long way. A thin film is all you need, everything you put on you have to wash off. probably have some in your work space right now. Cheers.
